We are pleased to announce that our latest work, “What drives gully formation in Spain’s olive landscapes? A regional analysis of gully activity,” led by Paula Gonzalez Garrido, has been published in the journal #Catena!
In this study, we investigate the potential of the recently proposed Gully Head Index (GHI) to predict where gullies may form in Spanish olive groves, combining a process-oriented approach with reduced data requirements.
In addition, we present new insights into when gully heads remain active or stop growing, a topic that has been little studied to date.
This work is the result of an outstanding collaboration. Many thanks to Paula Gonzalez Garrido, Adolfo Peña Acevedo, Sofie De Geeter, Matthias Vanmaercke, Jean Poesen, and Tom Vanwalleghem for their commitment and cooperation!
